SkyTribe is a community of pilots sharing what they see on the ground — runway condition observations, photos, and remarks from airstrips and airports around the world. We're a mobile app, and a small one. These Terms set out the agreement between you and us when you use SkyTribe.
SkyTribe is operated by Defyant Software Development CC ("SkyTribe," "we," "us," "our"), a close corporation registered in the Republic of Namibia under registration number [CC REGISTRATION NUMBER]. References to "SkyTribe" in these Terms include any successor entity to which the business may be transferred, and your continued use of the Services following such a transfer is your acceptance of that assignment.

By creating an account or using SkyTribe, you agree to these Terms. If you don't, please don't use the app.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice through the app or by email before they take effect. Your continued use after that point is your acceptance of the updated Terms.
You must be at least 16 years old to use SkyTribe. This reflects the minimum solo flight age under most aviation authorities, including the NCAA of Namibia. If you are 16 or 17 and the age of majority where you live is 18 (this includes Namibia, South Africa, and India), you need a parent or guardian's consent.
You'll need an account to use SkyTribe. When you sign up we ask for your name, email, password, date of birth, and country. Keep this information accurate and your password to yourself — you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@skytribeapp.com if you think someone else has accessed it.
One person, one account. Don't share credentials, and don't create multiple accounts. We may change or reclaim a username if we think it's inappropriate.
When you post on SkyTribe — strip reports, photos, comments, rogers, edits to airport information, profile details, or anything else you share with the community ("your content") — you keep ownership of it. You also give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable licence to host, display, copy, distribute, modify, reformat, translate, prepare derivative works of, and otherwise use your content for the purpose of operating and promoting SkyTribe, including in app store listings and marketing materials. This licence lasts as long as your content is on the platform.
When you post, you confirm that:
We don't claim ownership of your content, and we're not responsible for what you post — you are. We may remove, edit, or re-categorise content at any time if we think it breaks these Terms or our Community Guidelines, but we have no obligation to monitor what's posted.
Airport data. Airport reference data shown in the app is sourced from the public-domain OurAirports dataset and OpenStreetMap. Map tiles and base-map data are provided by Mapbox under their terms.
Content remains after you leave. If you delete your account, the strip reports, photos, comments, and rogers you've published are anonymised rather than deleted — they remain part of the SkyTribe community aviation database under "Former Member." The licence above continues to apply to that anonymised content. You can delete individual posts at any time before deleting your account. See our Account Deletion Policy for details.
Copyright takedowns. If you believe content on SkyTribe infringes your copyright, please write to legal@skytribeapp.com with: a description of the work you own; a link or other way to find the content you're flagging; your contact details; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; a statement (under penalty of perjury where applicable) that you're the owner or authorised to act for them; and your signature. We'll review and respond expeditiously, and we'll remove or disable content that we conclude is infringing. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter notice to the same address and we'll consider it. For EU users and rights holders, this section also serves as our notice-and-action mechanism under the Digital Services Act. Our designated agent for US DMCA notices is [DESIGNATED AGENT NAME] at legal@skytribeapp.com. We may terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly post infringing content.
We try to keep SkyTribe a useful, trustworthy place. Here's the short list of things you can't do:
To keep things fair and the platform stable, we apply reasonable usage limits — rate limits, cooldowns, file size caps, and similar — which you'll encounter as you use the app. We may adjust them as the product evolves.
This section is the most important one. Please read it carefully.
SkyTribe is a community tool. It is not an official source of aeronautical information. Strip reports, comments, and any other content on SkyTribe are user observations submitted by community members of varying experience. They have not been verified by SkyTribe or by any aviation authority.
SkyTribe does not replace, and must not be used as a substitute for:
Pilots are solely and entirely responsible for their own pre-flight planning, in-flight decision-making, and compliance with all applicable aviation regulations. This includes ICAO Annex 2, the regulations of the NCAA of Namibia, and the regulations of whichever civil aviation authority has jurisdiction over your flight (FAA, EASA, SACAA, and others). Nothing on SkyTribe relieves any pilot of their regulatory obligations or professional duty of care.
Runway conditions can change rapidly. A strip report reflects a moment in time, and may not represent current conditions. Photos may not represent what's on the ground today.
You use SkyTribe content entirely at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkyTribe disclaims all liability for flight operations, aviation decisions, incidents, accidents, property damage, personal injury, or death arising from or related to reliance on content posted on the platform.
You can delete your account at any time through the app's settings, or by emailing support@skytribeapp.com. When you do, your account is deactivated and your published content is anonymised after a short grace period so you can change your mind. Anonymisation is irreversible — see our Account Deletion Policy for what that means in practice.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, for any reason or for no reason, at our discretion. We'll typically only do this where we believe it's reasonably necessary — for example, to enforce these Terms or our Community Guidelines, to protect users, or to comply with the law — but we reserve the right to act without prior notice, particularly in response to serious safety violations such as posting false runway condition information.
If we terminate or suspend your account, you may not register a new account under your name, a fake name, or anyone else's name.
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES ABOUT THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY CONTENT ON THE PLATFORM, INCLUDING USER-GENERATED STRIP REPORTS AND COMMENTS. YOU USE SKYTRIBE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKYTRIBE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED NAMIBIAN DOLLARS. AS SKYTRIBE IS CURRENTLY FREE TO USE, THIS AMOUNT WILL ORDINARILY BE ZERO.
SKYTRIBE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY AVIATION INCIDENT, ACCIDENT, OR FLIGHT-RELATED DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON CONTENT POSTED ON THE PLATFORM.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claim, damage, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of SkyTribe, your content, your breach of these Terms, your violation of someone else's rights, or any aviation decision you or anyone else makes in reliance on content from the platform. This obligation survives the closure of your account.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Namibia. Any dispute relating to these Terms or to your use of SkyTribe is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Namibian courts.
If you live in the EU, EEA, or UK, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or your mandatory local consumer protection law, and you may bring claims in the courts of your country of residence to the extent that law permits.
If there's a dispute between us, please try to resolve it informally first by writing to support@skytribeapp.com. If we can't resolve it that way within a reasonable time, the dispute will be finally resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the jurisdiction of Namibia, on an individual (not class-action) basis. This doesn't apply to disputes about intellectual property, alleged theft or piracy, or where one of us is seeking an injunction — those can be brought in court. Users in jurisdictions with mandatory consumer dispute procedures can use those procedures instead.
If you got SkyTribe from the Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to those stores' usage rules. Where required: Apple and Google have no obligation to provide support for SkyTribe, and any product liability, warranty, or claim that SkyTribe doesn't meet legal requirements is for us to deal with, not them. Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of this section. You also confirm that you're not located in a country subject to a US government embargo and that you're not on any US government restricted-party list.
Our Privacy Policy is part of these Terms. Your data is currently stored primarily in the African region, with some processing on global cloud infrastructure or in the EU. Specific regions may change as the service evolves. By using SkyTribe from outside these regions, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed there.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of SkyTribe at any time. We may release updates and new versions of the app, some of which may be required for continued use.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, are the whole agreement between you and us about SkyTribe. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms, including in connection with a sale, merger, reorganisation, or similar transaction. You can't assign yours. If we don't enforce a right, that doesn't mean we've waived it. These Terms are written in English; if they're translated, the English version controls.
