Welcome to SkyTribe. Our community is built on a shared passion for aviation and a shared responsibility for the safety of everyone who takes to the skies. SkyTribe connects pilots around the world to share runway condition observations so we can all make better-informed decisions. These guidelines exist to keep SkyTribe a trusted, welcoming, and safe place. By using SkyTribe, you agree to follow them.
Accurate reporting. Strip reports must be based on what you've actually seen or what you know to be true. The aviation community relies on this data, and inaccurate reports can have serious consequences.
Timely information. Runway conditions change fast. When you submit a strip report, make sure it reflects current or very recent observations. If conditions may have changed since you saw the strip, say so in your remarks.
No fabrication. Posting false, misleading, or fabricated runway condition information is treated as a serious safety violation and we reserve the right to permanently terminate accounts that do it, without prior warning. This is our most strictly enforced guideline.
Supplement, don't replace. SkyTribe is a community tool, not an official source. Strip reports do not replace NOTAMs, METARs, TAFs, AIPs, or any certified pre-flight briefing service. Always use official sources for flight planning.
Respectful communication. Treat everyone in the community with respect. Abusive, threatening, or harassing language won't be tolerated.
Constructive feedback. Pilots are at different stages of their journey. If you disagree with a strip report or a comment, respond constructively — share what you've seen rather than attacking another pilot's judgement.
Personal boundaries. Be mindful of other people's privacy. Don't send unwanted messages or repeatedly engage with users who haven't responded.
Authenticity. Use your real name and accurate profile information. Don't misrepresent yourself or impersonate someone else. One person, one account.
Helpful contributions. Use comments and rogers to add value — extra context, updated conditions, helpful details for other pilots.
Support fellow pilots. SkyTribe is built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to safety. Engage considerately.
Leaderboards. Your community contributions are tracked and may appear on public leaderboards visible to other authenticated users. Leaderboards are there to celebrate participation — please don't post low-quality or repetitive content just to climb them.
Relevant content. Strip reports should focus on runway and airstrip conditions. Photos should show conditions on the ground — runway surface, surroundings, weather indicators — rather than unrelated content.
Photo quality. When you upload photos with a strip report, make sure they're clear, well-lit, and accurately represent what you saw at the time.
No spam. Don't post unsolicited promotional material, commercial solicitations, or spam. SkyTribe is a community for pilots — please don't use it to push your own products or services.
Respect others' privacy. Don't share other people's personal information without their consent — including location details, personal photos, or contact information found through the app.
Your information. Your name, profile photo, and contributions are visible to other authenticated users. Share only what you're comfortable being seen by the community.
Content persistence. The content you publish to the community becomes part of SkyTribe's community aviation database. If you delete your account, this content is anonymised (attributed to "Former Member" with your profile photo removed) and stays on the platform. You can delete individual posts at any time before deleting your account. See our Account Deletion Policy for details.
Photo consent. Get consent from anyone identifiable in your photos before uploading them. Be mindful of people who may appear in the background.
Follow aviation regulations. Abide by all local, national, and international aviation laws that apply to you. SkyTribe is not liable for any activity conducted through the app that breaks aviation regulations.
Safe flying. Promote and practise safe flying. Never treat SkyTribe as a substitute for proper pre-flight planning, official briefings, or regulatory compliance.
Respect local rules. Some airstrips and airports have restrictions on photography, access, or information sharing. Respect them.
Flag inappropriate behaviour. If you come across content that breaks these guidelines — especially false runway information — flag it using the in-app squawk feature, or write to support@skytribeapp.com. Pick a reason category and add details if you can. We review all flagged content and take appropriate action.
No abuse of flagging. The squawk system is a safety tool. Filing false, frivolous, or retaliatory flags may result in enforcement action against the reporter.
Stay proactive. If you spot problems or have suggestions, please get in touch. We rely on the community to help keep the quality high.
Consequences. Breaking these guidelines may result in warnings, content removal, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban.
Immediate action. Posting false or fabricated runway condition information may result in immediate and permanent termination, without prior warning. Aviation safety is non-negotiable.
Appeals. If you think an enforcement action was a mistake, write to support@skytribeapp.com to ask for a review.
Sometimes you'll come across content that doesn't break the guidelines but still doesn't sit well with you. When that happens, feel free to disengage from the conversation.
If you spot anything that violates these guidelines — especially inaccurate runway information — please flag it or write to us. We rely on our community of experienced pilots to help us catch what slips through.
By following these guidelines, you help make SkyTribe a trusted and supportive community for all pilots. Let's keep flying together.
